Overview
Dulux Trade Drywall Primer Sealer is a high-performance, water-based primer designed to prepare interior drywall and ceiling surfaces for a flawless topcoat. Formulated to even out surface porosity, it ensures consistent paint absorption for a smooth, professional finish with excellent opacity. This primer effectively binds and seals powdery or porous surfaces, creating a stable base that enhances durability and coverage of subsequent coats.
Easy to apply and quick-drying, it’s ideal for both new builds and refurbishment projects with new or bare drywall, where a reliable, uniform finish is desired.

Preparation
Surfaces must be sound, clean and dry.
- Remove all loose and defective paint. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
- Any surface defects should be filled with the appropriate Polycell Trade Polyfilla.
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply Dulux Trade Drywall Primer Sealer on new or bare surfaces by brush, roller or spray.
- Allow 2-4 hours before recoat. Once dry, apply your top coat. The normal finishing process is 2 coats of a recommended Dulux Trade emulsion.
Application
For best results, ensure the surface to be painted is sound, clean, and dry (new surfaces, particularly, must be dry). It is recommended to test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure compatibility and that you are happy with the finished results.
Spray Recommendations: Airless Spray: For best results use a 517 Low Pressure tip @ 1300 - 1500 psi. (90 – 103 bar). Alternatively, use a 517 tip @ 2000 – 2400 psi (138 - 165 bar). Please note that the above recommendations are intended as a guideline only and some adjustments may need to be made to accommodate equipment type & age, substrate type and individual site & atmospheric conditions.
