Overview

Dulux Trade Aqua UniPrimer is a versatile, high-performance, water-based primer designed to deliver outstanding adhesion on a wide range of interior and exterior surfaces. Suitable for wood, metal, uPVC and even previously painted glossy finishes, it provides excellent adhesion without the need for extensive sanding.

Its advanced formula penetrates and seals porous substrates while effectively blocking common stains such as water marks, nicotine, grease and tannin bleed.

Fast-drying and easy to apply, it is touch dry in just 30 minutes and ready for recoating in 1 hour. With its high opacity and smooth finish, it can also be used as an undercoat, making it an all-in-one solution for professional results.

Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Dulux tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay.

Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

A tinted primer can be used to help obtain the true depth of colour for your top coat or to reduce the amount of coats required when a drastic colour change is occurring. A tinted primer will not necessarily be the same colour as your selected topcoat. It will be tinted towards the topcoat colour and generally lighter in shade. For example if your topcoat is black your primer may be a shade of grey. If you are unsure about when a tinted primer is required please contact us and we can advise further.

Preparation

Surfaces must be sound, clean and dry, free from all defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease and waxes.

To ensure good adhesion, it is recommended to pretreat bare metal surfaces:

• Soak a sanding pad in a mild alkaline cleaning solution and lightly abrade on bare metal.
• Leave for 10 minutes and lightly abrade again.
• Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry well before applying Dulux Trade Aqua UniPrimer.

Take special precautions when preparing pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal, as they may contain harmful lead.

Application

For best results, ensure the surface to be painted is sound, clean, and dry. It is recommended to test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure compatibility and that you are happy with the finished results.

• Stir thoroughly before use.
• Apply 1 coat of Dulux Trade Aqua UniPrimer by Brush, Roller or Sprayer.
• Then, finish with another 1-2 coats of an appropriate Dulux Trade Topcoat.

Before treating water or damp stains, ensure the underlying cause has been fixed.

Thinning: This product does not require thinning for brush and roller application. For spray application thin 20% for HVLP and up to 5% for Airless.

Spray Recommendations:

• HVLP Spray: Thin 20% and use a #4 Fluid Set.
• Airless Spray: Can be thinned up to 5%. Use a pressure of 1100-1500 psi (80-100 bar), with a spray tip size 208/210 or 308/310 FFLP tip. Use100 mesh (blue) filters in manifold and gun.
