Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Armstead Trade tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

Clean Up After use, remove as much paint as possible from brushes before cleaning with clean water.

Preparation

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease, wax, and other contaminants.

  • Rub down previously painted surfaces thoroughly using wet flatting methods where possible, then wipe with a damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid inhaling dust; wear a suitable face mask if dry-sanding.
  • Treat knots with a suitable knotting solution such as Ronseal's Knotting Pale. For new or bare wood, apply 1–2 coats of Armstead Trade Quick Drying Wood Primer Undercoat.
  • Prime all bare metal with either Armstead Trade Red Oxide Metal Primer or Armstead Trade Metal Primer Zinc Phosphate.
  • Apply a thinned coat of Armstead Trade Quick Dry Satin to bare plaster and masonry surfaces.
  • When applying water-based paints over conventional solvent-based coatings, ensure very thorough surface preparation.
  • Take special precautions when preparing pre-1960s paint surfaces on wood and metal, as they may contain harmful lead.

    • Application

    Always follow the manufacturers instructions found on the tin, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before painting the entire surface to ensure compatibility.

    • Apply using a brush or roller only, this paint is not suitable for spraying.
    • Do not apply in temperatures below 8°C (as recommended by British Standard BS 6150).
    • Lightly dampen both the synthetic brush and the surface before application to improve flow and achieve a smooth, even finish. Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
    • Apply 1-2 coats of Armstead Trade Quick Dry Satin as required.
    • Newly painted doors and windows should not be closed tightly until the paint is fully dry.
    • Thinning: Not required for normal use.

    Aftercare & Storage

    Do not use or store in extremes of temperature and protect from frost. To prevent spillage, please store and transport upright.
