Overview

Sadolin Yacht Varnish is a traditional clear varnish used to build a durable, high gloss finish for windows, doors, and conservatories. Ideal to enhance the natural beauty and colour of wood Sadolin has developed a varnish that protects against UV damage and provides long-lasting protection that resists peeling and flaking.

Preparation

Always ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry and dirt free to ensure adheshion.

• Degrease any exposed bare timber by wiping with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits.
• Sand back any weathered, loose, or grey timber to a clean and sound surface.
• Fill any surface defects, imperfections, or open joints with an appropriate filler such as Sadolin Woodfiller.
• Only use non-ferrous screws, nails, and fixings.
• Any non-preservative treated softwood timber should be treated with two coats of Sadolin Quick Dry Wood Preserver.

Application

We recommend always following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. Stir thoroughly, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility.

• Do not apply when temperatures are below 8°C and above 25°C.
• Thoroughly stir prior to use and apply with a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush.
• Pay special attention to end grain, tops, and bottoms of the door and under cills for full weather protection.
• Apply 2-3 coats, allowing 16-24 hours between coats, treat bare wood with 3 full coats.
• Protect from frost and rain until dry.
