Preparation

Remove any loose and flaking finish. Brush off any physical surface contamination i.e. moss, general dirt etc.

Application

Always carry out a preliminary test prior to commencing the job, to determine the contact time necessary for stripping or cleaning the wood. Wear chemical resistant gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing.

Tools recommended: Synthetic Brush/scrubbing brush, Roller with synthetic cover, garden Sprayer

• Apply PREPDECK® generously and evenly to the wood surface using a brush, roller, or spray
• Allow the product to dwell on the surface, giving it time to penetrate and break down the old finish or contaminant, dwell time will vary depending on the coating or contaminant being removed
• Scrub the surface with a stiff brush if necessary to loosen stubborn residues or heavily weathered finishes
• Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all traces of the product and loosened contaminants
• Allow the wood to dry completely before applying any new finish or protective coating
• For best results, follow up with a wood neutraliser or brightener such as Owatrol NET-TROL® to restore the wood's natural pH and open the grain for optimum finish absorption
• Once dry and neutralised, the surface is ready to receive your chosen finishing product such as Owatrol AQUATROL®

Aftercare & Storage

Do not use a wire brush to scrub the surface.

Allow wood to dry thoroughly, 2-3 days before refinishing.
