Overview

HB42 PS2 is a water-based primer sealer engineered for use across a wide range of surfaces. It delivers high opacity and superior adhesion, making it excellent for glossy surfaces with only minimal preparation required. Its unique formulation actively prevents corrosion and rust when applied to clean ferrous metals, and its anti-mould biocide content makes it a smart choice for bathroom and kitchen applications where humidity is a challenge.

PS2 can be used both inside and outside on plaster, lime plaster, all types of wood (including cedar and redwood), brick, concrete, steel, gloss paint, glass, tar, bitumen and asphalt. It's also a great option for sealing in smoke and fire damage, along with grease and crayon marks, before overcoating.

Preparation

• Ensure the surface is stable, firm and completely dry.
• Remove all dust, sand, loose old paint, dirt, grease and oil before application.
• On glossy surfaces, a light key or clean is usually sufficient - heavy sanding is not typically required.
• Ensure ambient and surface temperature is above 10°C before starting.

Application

• Stir well before use.
• Apply by brush, roller or spray to a minimum dry film thickness (DFT) of 75µm, increasing coverage on rougher surfaces.
• Allow to dry to touch for approximately 30 minutes.
• Recoat or overcoat after approximately 1 hour.
• Thin with water only if necessary for spray application.

Tip: On rougher or more porous surfaces, increase film thickness slightly beyond the 75µm minimum to ensure full opacity and sealing performance.

Aftercare & Storage

• Allow the full recoat time of 1 hour before applying a topcoat, even though the surface is touch dry sooner.
• In high-humidity areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, ensure adequate ventilation while the primer cures fully.
• Once cured, the anti-mould biocide provides ongoing protection against mould growth in humid conditions.
• On ferrous metal, the corrosion-inhibiting formulation continues to protect the surface once sealed and topcoated.

Clean Up

• Clean brushes, rollers and spray equipment with water immediately after use, while the primer is still wet.
• Wipe up spills or splashes promptly with a damp cloth.
• Once dry, the product will require mechanical removal or a suitable paint stripper.
• Dispose of any waste material and empty containers in line with local regulations.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, tightly sealed when not in use. Protect from frost. Do not apply or store in temperatures below 10°C.
